Stripes are trending big this season and there is no question they are a classic. Pair that with all things nautical and you have a hit. I've been pretty obsessed with both this season so when I spotted this little number at Destination Maternity I fell in love. It sold out quickly and is sadly no longer available, however I've included some similar looks for your shopping inspiration. I love this look so much I'll be wearing it to my baby shower. I also have plans to potentially have it altered post maternity as I don't want to give it up after the baby bump disappears!

The big question with the dress was how it would translate on the body? With stripes you get into dangerous territory. Will they make me look wider? When shopping for stripes look for strategic placement. As you can see here they placed the print at an angle creating flattering lines. Additionally this fabric is more structured so depending on body type it could appear too bulky. The length on it was perfect for my 5'9" frame but may have swallowed a smaller frame if you didn't hem it up.
I paired the Maxi with my new favorite hat for a clean chic look, and my favorite Stephanie Kantis necklace which can be worn multiple different ways. Basic studs and my new Anthro sunnies completed the look of the day for an elegant and simple put together outfit.
I recently visited my friends at Rio Hair Studio for a new lighter summer look. When left down the Balayage really shows off, but it's been hot and this dress is full length so a braided up do kept it cool while also making room for my hat. With the new lighter hair I've been going a bit more natural with my makeup colors opting for more neutral shades and a nude lip. I do love seeing a bright red lip with nautical looks though!
