Flashback Femininity | Outfit Post | Featuring Anthropologie

Fashion Blogger Amy West in flare leg jeans from Anthropologie

Today on the blog I'm pairing another set of fabulous flare leg jeans with an ultra feminine blouse. Who says moms have to wear mom jeans? Toss those lumpy trousers in the waste basket and pull on a pair of these dark wash Citizen of Humanity flares complete with rear sculpting technology. Can I get an Amen?!

How darling is London's Baby Essentials dress?

I'm loving the detail on this embroidered pull over by Akemi + Kim. The fabric is super soft and the cross over design is not only flattering, it also assures baby has access to what's for dinner. A must have for me! Find this Akemi + Kim Blouse at Anthropologie here

Graphic Flare | Outfit Post | Featuring Anthropologie

Graphic Flare | Fall Outfit Post with Amy West featuring Anthropologie

The weather is finally cooling down and now that I'm fitting back into most of my pre-baby clothes I've been in the mood to shop a bit. My closet was in need of a bit of an update, but having an infant comes with some ...err special needs in the wardrobe department. But just because baby is breastfeeding doesn't mean I have to sacrifice style right!? My friends at Anthropologie proved to me that great style can be baby friendly too! Here are a few of the gems I discovered. Watch out for baby London stealing the scene. And did I mention my new do?

The Flare is Back

How do you weigh in on the flare debate? Are you happy to see it return or are you grieving over your skinny jean's demise? I think it's safe to say that your skinny jeans won't be gone forever, however it's nice to give this silhouette a chance again. These Paige High Rise Bell Canyon Flares had me feeling long and lean as I return to non stretchy waist pants. Paired with some Franco Sarto wedges my 5'9" from took an even longer stretch. It's hard for me to find jeans long enough to fit my inseam so I was pleasantly surprised that the length was spot on and perfect for heels as well! Winning!

New Do?

Why the change? I hate to be cliche and all but when one has a baby, it's kind of the thing to do. Why? Well, there are a few reasons.
1. Out with the old in with the new.
After nine months of not having any control, this is your chance to make a change you can control.
2. Variety is the spice of life.
It's just more fun.
3. Less time to do the do.
Yes, long lovely locks are pretty to look out but what new mom has hours to spend washing, drying, and styling said locks? Instead of opting for the daily pony and bun, I hit up my stylist Misty at Rio Hair Studio for a trendy LOB or ( Long Bob) that is super easy to style and takes minutes to do.
4. Losing it.
A less than ideal part of having a baby is that all the glossy thickness you developed while preggo... has to go. It starts coming out in clumps and I was just not having that. A preemptive strike handled that. By chopping around 6 inches off, I have less to lose.

Graphic Statement
I've been digging black lately. It tends to be more forgiving on certain "situations" a girl faces when her ever changing post baby body is returning back to normal. This split neck henley makes a statement while concealing my still soft middle. I'll have that six pack back soon right??? Well maybe sometime in the next year. Let's be real, it took nine months to stretch out... it will likely take something like that to get back to normal.

The Perfect Accessory

By now I'm pretty used to my stunning girls stealing the scene. London mugs it for the camera here batting her saucer sized baby blues. And yes, she is just as charming in real life as she is in pics. My heart has not stopped melting. I'm pretty much putty in her hands.

Delicate Details

Babies little hands are into everything that's Momma's. I usually love statement jewelry, however when baby is in tow less is more. These delicate finishing pieces are just the thing.

New Sunnies

And here's where I take a moment and thank the hubby for gifting me this fabulous pair of Versace shades. He's a keeper!

Baby Friendly

For the cool weather a comfy sweater is a must have. This one has a bonus! It also serves as a discreet nursing cover.

All of these fabulous finds and none of them labeled "maternity or post maternity". The next time you are shopping at Anthropologie don't be afraid to ask a staff member for help finding garments that not only look amazing, but also meet your needs.

Until then...

Enjoy the Journey!

5 Secrets for Packing the Perfect Fall Travel Bag

5 Secrets for Packing the Perfect Fall Travel Bag

away this fall and at odds as to what you should bring? Fall temps can change dramatically ranging from chilly to hot and humid depending on the destination. If you are like me and have fashion on the brain, but don't want to arrive loaded down with baggage, then you will love these five tips to make packing for your next fall trip a bit more streamlined. No need to bring the whole wardrobe, here's the scoop.

1. Wear the Bulkiest Items
Although it's tempting to opt for loungewear when traveling through airports, it's actually more practical to wear your heavy items instead of packing. For instance your coat, boots, and a hat. This will save tons of space in your bag, and bonus, it will keep you warm in chilly airports while making a savvy fashion statement.

Amy West shares her secrets on packing for fall travel
2. Consider the Bag
Look for bags with expandable main compartments. That way if you happen to purchase items to bring back on your return trip, you have space. Or, if you decide to pack that coat after all, all you have to do is unzip the expansion compartment and slip it in.

3. Invest in Packing Cubes
These nifty little bags aid in organization, but also help you save space. It's a great way to budget your bag. For instance, you can set a goal that one cube is for tops, the other is for pants, undergarments and so forth.

4. Don't Over Pack
We've all been there. It's so hard to decide what to bring especially in fall when the weather can jump from hot to cold very quickly. Instead of overpacking bring light layers that pack easy and don't be afraid to wear durable staples like jeans more than once. Also it's helpful to set a goal to only bring 2 to 3 pairs of shoes. One for day time (like boots), one for working out or getting active (tennis shoes), and one you can dress up (heels). And remember you will be wearing the heaviest so plan your travel outfit accordingly.

How to pack for fall travel

5. Select Fashion with Function
Pack clothes that work as transitional fall items. That could be a sun dress held over from summer with tights, a light topper (like a jean jacket), and some cute boots. Top it off with a cute hat and you have a great look. Taking lighter items like that and pairing them with warmer accessories that can be mixed and matched with other outfits will assure your wardrobe is functional, and fashionable, and avoid a lot of bulk that takes up too much space in your bag.

Until then...
